Short Bio

Jose Garcia-Alonso is an Associate Professor at the University of Extremadura. In the last 10 years, his research interests have revolved around Quantum Software Engineering, eHealth Continuum and Gerontechnology. These interests have materialized in numerous publications in indexed journals and international conferences.

From these topics, Jose Garcia-Alonso started a new research line in his group around the use of services to improve the quality of life of ageing people. This multidisciplinary topic has also materialized in numerous publications. But more importantly, this research line has been funded with more than 2 million euros from different projects. Particularly, Jose has been the IP of an Interreg Project funded with more than 1.2 million euros in which he has coordinated 5 different entities, including 3 Portuguese universities.

These projects, alongside an interest in Quantum Computing, allowed Jose Garcia-Alonso to lead the new research line of Quantum Service Engineering inside his group. This research has already materialized in several publications in international conferences and indexed journals. Similarly, this work, alongside the previously mentioned work with ageing people, has attracted the interest of multiple companies in a project funded by CDTI with more than 3’5 million euros focused on the use of quantum services for personalized pharmacogenomics for ageing people.
